Hi guys

I'm going to be in Savannah, GA for work in a couple of weeks, and then I have to drive over the weekend to Birmingham, AL for the next week. While I'm there, I was hoping to do some biking - is there anywhere in that part of the country that rents out bikes and does downhilling? I'm guessing probably not because there are no ski resorts with chairlifts like in the NE, but maybe there's truck transfer or something?

For Birmingham, someone at B.U.M.P. might be able to assist you. Call them @ 800-960-9457.

um, around Savannah, the only downhilling you'll do is after you go up the bridge over the river.

Ain't no hills to be going down other than that.

Not sure about the Bama leg of your trip, though.

He's right, the only downhill in Savannah is the Talmadge Bridge.

You could ride through the Savannah Wildlife Refuge or the Fort Pulaski trail for an excellent outdoor fix.

Good Luck and enjoy the SAV while you're here,

Michael

That's funny, downhilling in coastal Georgia. You're at the bottom of the hill with no where up.

Oak Mountain State Park ( just south of B'ham ) has some great downhills. I road bike there a couple of times a week. Tons of Mt Bikers there. Like Bobs says I would contact B.U.M.P for more info.

I was in BHM recently for meetings at our corporate office (during bike 2 work week) and I was able to rent a road bike from the shop below. They are great to deal with and recommend them. They also rent MTB's. Cost was $50/day or $75/weekend. Since I rented for 2 days during the week they gave me the weekend rate.
