Is there a US source for the clear/white version of the LD-500? The Jandd Extreme front rack I got a little while ago is drilled for a reflector bracket, and it'd be nice to put a combination reflector and be-seen light there -- but I've only seen the front LD-500 on Cateye's site and UK-based online stores, and I'm in the US.
If there's no way for me to avoid the combination of international shipping and the harsh exchange rate, is there a recommended UK source?
I heard a while ago that the light isn't available in the US. I don't know for certain though. It might be worthwhile to check amazon.com and/or Canadian or Mexican stores.

Try a German online site; it will be much less expensive than one from the UK, and most are in English.

I kinda want one. Falls under the category of "never too many lights but a hard limit on handlebar space" :/

It certainly looks that way.
I haven't been able to find Canadian or Mexican sources either, and can't quite justify paying the trans-Atlantic shipping rates I've seen for just one little light. The next time someone I know travels abroad, I might ask them to pick one up for me. :)

I just received several of the beasties yesterday, which were ordered from cyclestore.co.uk (http://www.cyclestore.co.uk/productDetails.asp?productID=12939). They arrived after barely one week, which really surprised me (I'm in the Kansas City area), and the total cost including shipping was approximately $20 each.
They list the item as CATEYE HL-LD500 REFLEX FRONT LED, but the actual packaging calls it REFLEX-LITE TL-LD500-FC. The only apparent difference from what's shown on the CatEye (http://www.cateye.com/en/product_detail/268) website is that the entire shell is clear, while their picture shows a black backing.
The light itself seems to be of good quality, just like the much more accessible rear version, although I didn't have an opportunity to try it out today (hopefully tomorrow morning). It does behaves slightly different in flashing mode... it exhibits a constant strobe-type flash, while the red version blinks (more slowly) three times then pauses.
All in all, I think it will prove to be a good acquisition. :)

I had a bit of freetime, and decided to give the beastie a quick trial run tonight. It's much brighter than I expected... there's no question about drivers being able to easily see you. :) While it's not bright enough to replace my primary headlight, it's definitely more than up to the intended task! :thumb:
