New sound I love to hear

I like to listen to the bike as I ride, the sound of my chain through the gears, the freewheel, or lack there of when I'm on the fixie. But there is a new sound in this experience that I'm really enjoying, it's the sound made by my Nokians on ice! That slight clicking as you ride across pavement, and slush and ice, man, what a cool sound. Ranks right up there with the sound my spokes make when the wind hits them just right, like a well tuned ski on a downhill slalom run.
I hear that sound and something stirs in the inner animal, and I realize I"m out in the elements doing this thing called biking!

Yah, today was a new experience for me here. I got my pair of Nokian M&G studded tires and this morning went on my inaugural ride. Didn't need it here in Jersey on the road but the hard crusty snow/ice off road is very good. Riding on the road, you can hear the little click clacks of the studs which sounds pleasent and I've always have liked the sound of snow. Try X-C skiing, now that is like a finely groomed orchestra of man and nature.

I only had the front tire on cause I need another shraeder valve adaptor for the rear tire but the front one worked quite well off-road and good enough for the hardpack conditions out there over here.

Just got back from a short trail ride on the old MTB - first ride on the new Innova studs - They're great!!!! Got the tires for $20 each at my NEW LBS, (maybe old stock? I didn't ask) and I can't believe the difference they make. Rode on hard ice, slushy stuff, 3" of snow on ice, didn't matter, I just kept rolling along. I can't wait to start commuting to work on them!

I love the sound on ice, too, but it kind of tells me I'm wearing them out faster when I'm riding on pavement.

Good luck-just don't ever ride on dry pavement with them. I made the mistake of buying Innova studded tires once. One day was dry, and I wore the studs flat in only 3 miles.

Has anyone used the Innova tires on a frozen lake or ONLY on the snow? If so, what do think? I see that pavement kills them quick.
