Hey,
I have a pick up truck and need a good rack to hold our bikes, any suggestions, thanks.

Do you want the bikes to ride in the truck bed?
Or, do you have a hitch receiver?
I have a GMC Sierra crew with short bed/hard tonneau cover. I opted for a hitch rack, Thule 914 Roadway.
There are several makes and models to choose from.

I'd like to have them in the bed, rather not tow anything, but thanks for the info, I'll look into it.

You've got a few options. Look up Hollywood Racks...I believe they manufacture a bar style
rack that stretches from rail to rail. I have used flat mount skewer type holders in my Van and pickup
for years. I just mounted them onto a board. This thread has some pics of my setup. It
also shows my unconventional Yakima roof rack which I mounted between my truck rails. This works well as I can now use various Yakima mounts depending on my needs. Hope this helps stimulate some ideas.

I use this one. I bought two so I can load a bike on each side of bed without getting in truck. Very easy and sturdy! I've used it with 5 diff bikes and it always works.

Tired of removing your wheels? Scroll down for pics of it in the bed.

Big piece of lumber with a buncha universal mounts should do the trick. (they're quick-release skewers that bolt to the lumber)

That's what I did. I got two of these things (http://www.amazon.com/Delta-Bike-Hitch-Pro-Locking/dp/B000ACAM7E/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1213469872&sr=8-2) and mounted a 2x4 across where the stake pockets are in my Dakota.
Here's a picture of what I built.
