Fifty Plus (50+) - Shake, Rattle and Roll - The Neils on Wheels Pittsburgh/DC Tour!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The official thread for the ride will be in the Clydesdale forum:

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=423154

...but any 50+ posters who want to ride with us, dine with us, or even host us, feel free to contact me. I'm online till Friday morning. Or just look for us on the GAP trail or C & O canal towpath. If you can't meet us, follow the thread at the link above. We'll have reports posted regularly.

Bike Forums posters are the best - when Neil F's bike was destroyed in a crash, he had five offers of loaner bikes from posters so he could complete the tour. If any of you want to meet us, we want to meet you.

BTW, Neil F. raised over 1000 dollars for epilepsy research for this ride, hence the ride name. Then again, he's bringing a guitar too.

This sounds like a wonderful adventure. Enjoy it and I'm looking forward to the trip report.

Too bad it isn't closer to my neighborhood.

Leave lots of details. I'm considering that very trip, solo, in September.

We are posting details, and photos, in both the thread link I posted in the OP, and another, "For Martha", detailing Neil F.'s 100 mile ride to end the tour early and get to DC to see his wife. Both threads are in the Clydesdale forum. The tour ended early for me because I decided to cross wet train tracks at 15 MPH and cracked a rib. It could be up to 8 weeks before I ride again. :-)

OUCH.... hope you heal sooner than that, but that is a painful injury.

 Glad to hear you weren't more seriously injured. A cracked rib can be painful...heal quickly.

Good luck. I hope both of you have a great time.
