Bicycle Mechanics - Painting cable housing...
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone done it? Can anyone think of any reason why it shouldn't be done or won't work?
It flexes every time you use the brake or shifter so the paint will flick off. If you want colored cable housing use heat shrink tubbing available in lots of colors. Just slip it over the housing and use a heat gun to shrink it.

Something like the Jagwire would be great, but it looks like they're for mountain bikes. Know if anyone makes similar colored cables for road bikes?
Something like the Jagwire would be great, but it looks like they're for mountain bikes. Cable housing is cable housing, there's a difference between brake and shifter, but if there's a difference between road and MTB I've yet to find it.
There are some different diameters, and of course they can be lined or not, but that's it.
