I just got a Garmin 405 and am thinking about getting a MAC. This will be my first MAC. Currently I am using a Laptop and it is getting crowded with all the USB crap I have to plug in to it. So I was thinking I would get soething a bit fun to have at home.

So how is the Garmin Mac stuff?

Honestly, I don't even know if Garmin makes software for the Mac. I use Ascent:

I have 2 Garmins and an edge 705 on the way and I have an iMac. Garmin has pretty good software for the mac. I love my mac and wish I didn't need a windows PC for some other applications or I wouldn't even own a windows PC.

Garmin has beta versions of its mapping software for the Mac. It's freely downloadable from their site. My experience has been uneven, but it is beta software, so that's to be expected. They do seem to be putting serious effort into getting up to speed. My main concern at this point is that the Mac version seems to choose routes between two points differently than the Windows version. For most of my route development I just run the Windows version under Parallels; it works great.

+1 for Ascent. Great program that is still evolving. The author listens to and implements user suggestions.

Hi,
I have a Garmin Nuvi 660 that I use for navigation and Geocaching and I can download Geocaches through Garmin software. If you have any questions go to their site and ask one of the technicians. They answer reasonably fast and seem to be helpful. They know there is a large amount of people with Macs.
I have an iMac and my gal has a MacBook Pro. Ain't no PeeCees in our house. Every once in a while a PeeCee is handy but when I see all my buddies with viruses and whatever I thank my lucky stars. Macs aren't perfect but at least you don't have to worry about unemployed programmers...
