Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello All, Can anyone help me with a some info, as.....to where I can enter it in Queens and is it marked? Also I've heard that the Greenway is more or less a loop thru Brooklyn and the Rockaways? Thanks in advance. Paulie:speedy:

Sorry, I've never heard of this, but I'm curious to know if it exists.

You mean Shore Pkwy? Starts in Bay Ridge and ends around Howard Beach. Too bad it doesn't cut across Queens. Sorry, no idea where to get on in Queens. Grab a bike map from your LBS and go exploring.

Actually, one of the few rides I've done since I started exploring NYC this season is that very route. There is a Brooklyn Queens Greenway that goes through a network of parks through both those boroughs. It's marked, but it's a bit confusing because the signs don't have a little picture of a bike on them. They just have some symbol for the greenway. But yeah, you can follow the signs and it's an ok ride.
I started in Williamsburg and headed out Bushwick to Evergreen Cemetery/Highland Park. From there I hit Forrest Park and whatever that big park is that has Meadow and Willow Lakes and the Mets' stadium. Finished at the waterfront by the stadium, then took one of those Queens avenues (34th, maybe?) as a straight-shot back to North Brooklyn.
If you get a NYC bike map, it should put you on the right path, then once you start seeing those little signs, you know what to do.
This should help too (from my sig):

This might be what you're looking for... the actual Brooklyn/Queens Greenway guide. The NYC bike map is easier to digest, but if you want additional info this guide is useful.

I've done it as well. There are a few places that are dicey, mostly around the Jackie Robinson Pkwy, mostly because it isn't very well cleared. I think the NYC Century took us through there too. Don't expect to go very fast either, it isn't that kind of ride.

:speedy::Thanks for all of the help. Hopefully I'll be able to check it out this weekend.
The easiest entrance from Queens is 157 Avenue, and 84 Street. Please do not use a highway on ramp and climb the guard rail
