Classic & Vintage - Old(ish?) Sugino Info?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I picked up a crankset at work today for next to nothing (yay "junk" bins). It's clearly meant for track use, 48T, 1/8" and 165mm. The only identifying things besides the usual crankarm junk is "Sugino No. 3". Theres some more details to it, such as the peculiar chainring mounting. It appears to have a riveted chainring, but the spider says 46-48T, implying the ring capacities? I haven't bothered to measure the BCD yet, as I haven't even figured out how to change the rings yet. I'd post photos, but I'd rather prefer information on this Sugino No. 3 as a whole.
We'd prefer photos as a whole

Very cool. Here it is on a Japanese web page (http://xt250.hp.infoseek.co.jp/bicycle/GRAND_P2.html) (scroll down a bit). And the crappy Google translation:
Clank is genuine and lower body with a single gear. Crank case, but it is light, gear, with the iron in KASHIME gear and can not be exchanged. SUGINO HP's look at this kind of product Is not listed, already have been discontinued.
Cheap swaged cast crank, meant for cheap singlespeed or 3 speed city bikes. The spider allows a range of chainring sizes, factory-fitted rings only.

LWaB has nailed it. As soon as I read rivited I knew it was a cheepo swaged....
The looks like a 3/32nd ring to my eyes. Still no reason you couldn't use it on a conversion or something.

Good eyes. It is a 3/32 ring, so the crank is aimed at cheap 5 sp derailleur city bikes. The same crank and chainring is/was used with a different spider and another smaller chainring to make a double crank.
