no motor?

Last night was the first time I rode home using my lights when it rained (and it only sprinkled then), and I'm wondering home waterproof the Cateye el530 is. It worked fine then, do I have anything to worry about?
You shouldn't have any problem.

I rode several times in light rain with my Fenix and never had an issue. I think what you need to worry about is RAIN. The kind that is so hard that the light would actually get drenched.
Just my opinion but I think that all bike lights should have some degree of water resistance as they are intended for outdoor use.
Incidentally, my nightly ride takes me through sprinklers often and I love the effect of late night and all of the water drops you can see due to your lights. I ride through those all the time with nary a problem.

On Paris-Brest-Paris (1200k brevet) last year I used two of the EL-530s and had no problems. It rained more than a little bit.

Thanks. It looks like it should seal out the water, they seal up pretty tight when changing the battery.
Its supposed to be dunk proof. You shouldn't have any problems.
On an aside, my el410 does duty as a backup dive light. 40m no worries.
My El-530 has been used year round in rain, snow, sleet and works fine. It is a backup light since I use a tactical flashlight with rechargeable batteries for a main light.
I Use my HL-EL530 in heavy rain quite often, always works fine
