Classic & Vintage - Dawes | Halfords "Gold Wing" - anyone heard of it?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Around 1984, my parents bought me my first road bike. It was called "Gold Wing" and bought from Halfords (US equivalent of Walmart but I think the bikes were better at Halfords) for £200 (I guess it was a fair amount of money back then).

But I cant remember if it was made by Dawes, or Halford's own brand. Can any one help me out here? I Google'd but nothing's there.

It was an oyster/gold color with mudguards, double cranks and 7 speed rd. I didn't know much about bikes back then (apart from some bikes are for roads, others are for mtb'ing). After about 5 years, the chainstay on the chain side cracked near the seatstay joint so it leads me to believe it's probably not a Dawes.
