I need some extra motivation this winter, so I'm springing for one of the 10-hour TdF DVD's. 2003 is still WAAAAAY too much, but '01 and '02 are reasonable. I know '01 is where LA pulled his great ruse on Stage 10, but he won by a sizeable margin, making it somewhat less suspenseful. I didn't follow '02 closely (or '01 for that matter, other than highlights). Which should I get? Which was the better Tour? Anyone have one or both DVD's? What are your thoughts?

Thanks.

I've got '02 and '03.

It doesn't matter which one, you will end up getting them all ;)

if you like to watch some great team tactics (Lance and Roberto and Cechu giving Once a riding lesson) then '02 is a good one. Watching Once trying to cover all the breaks, all the top riders...Saiz just rode his team into the dust.

'01 was a butt kicking, IMO. Still fun to watch...

Start with '99 and add the next year until you have all 5.

2001 and 2002 both had a great route.
I would go for 2001, but that is just because I've seen much more of 2002 and it isnt all that interesting (Lance dominates and Rumsas comes close to him as he was all doped up). I like seeing bigger time gaps so I'd prefer 2001... but they're both fairly nice to watch so its pretty much your guess.

I went with '01. I kind of remember '02 being less supenseful (though neither was like this year! :D )
