Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - There are some really good mods on here, and some really bad ones.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

OK, I got a gripe. And that is that I feel that some moderators are totally overstepping their power. I made a response to a post that was a bit tongue in cheek, but I don't feel that I violated any forum rules. And I have doublechecked.

Now, I don't claim to be a saint and I will readily admit fault if it can be pointed out to me. In fact, a few months ago I replied to a post in the Foo forum with a crass statement and I got a warning from a moderator. I reviewed my language and agreed it was out of line, so I apologized for my actions and promised to be more cognizant of what I write. Well, the other day some dude took offense to one of my critiques about a bike product and replied with the word troll, to which I replied back with futher namecalling. I got an infraction. He did not. I guess it's ok to throw around that ever so popular term, "troll" and get the masses to follow the crowd, but I just don't see it the same way as the moderator who gave me a -1 pt infraction and I privately messaged him so. He'll probably get mad about that and use his powers to ban me anyway.

There should be some other sort of mechism to oust these moderators who abuse their priveledges. My suggestion is a point system in which we can moderate the moderator. Yep, that's right moderate the moderator.

How do you know that?

Instead of this thread, why not PM one of the Admins, like me, or donnamb, or Brian to review the infraction issued along with a link to the post? You do have the right to appeal. Our moderators are volunteers and are asked to make calls on posts every day. They do a tough job, and try to the best of their ability to fairly enforce the guidelines. Worst thing, we'll let the infraction stand, or we may well reverse it if you make a good case for error on the part of the moderator.

Tom, upon your suggestion I did try to PM you last week. No response yet. Are you busy? Should I try someone else?

Sorry, I have been busy....

Link me to the specific thread and forward the infraction to me via PM. I'll be glad to take a look.
