Im looking to go on an epic bike trip as soon as i graduate from college in May. Im thinking about going away for at least 2 weeks to some place warm, possibly out west. What are some good places you all would recommend? How much do you usually spend on bike trips?
NOTE: Ignore that question mark after "trip" in the vote
My last trip cost me about 400 bucks, but it was a road trip in my friend's minivan and we camped. I'd imagine that if we flew, had to rent a car and stay in motels that it could easily reach 2000 or more. So I stick mostly to the east coast.

You'll probably get more feedback if you post this thread under 'touring'

"Bike trip" means a whole lot of things. I don't think I even spent $80 on my last bike trip.
It was 5 days in Sun Valley and the Sawtooth mountains of Idaho with 4 of my best friends and husband. Camped out every night for free. Soaked in natural hot springs every night for free. One place in the Sawtooths had a $7 parking fee for the trailhead.
Otherwise it was money for gas to get there (4-5 hour drive), food and beer.
It was the time of my life. When I am stressed I mentally picture myself on the sweet singletrack of Fisher Creek trail, or the afternoon we laid out on the shores of Redfish Lake with the awesome mountains in the back. Ahhhh!
I find myself lucky to live in the West where tons of great places to bike are less than 5 hours drive for me.
My husband would probably recommend the Telluride, CO to Moab, UT hut to hut trip. He did 210 miles (I think) in one week staying in huts where food was available. I'm not sure how much it cost. It was before he knew me.

My "bike trips" have never been more than an extended weekend camping with the bike, so I don't spend too much on the trip itself. Maybe $50 for gas, $50 for food, and $30 or so for camp fees.

I live in Florida, so our bike trips are usually long weekends with about a 12 hour drive each way to North Carolina. We usually camp. For a long weekend, we budget about $400 to $500. The majority of that is just gas.
We went out west two summers ago and drove/camped for two weeks in all parts of Colorado. Spent about $2000. Again, majority of costs was the gas (30+ hour drive each way). Plus, the last weekend was my buddies wedding, so we had some hotel costs in there. We also bought WAY too much souveniers. Could easily have done it on $1200-1500.
