BMX - Anybody over 6ft?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I am 6'1" and looking to get a 20" bike (DK Cleveland probably, 20.5 TT). I am looking to do street and a little bit of freestyle, I have seen some people on 24" or even 26" bikes to some nice street stuff. Right now I have a 24" MTB and it is small for me.
So do you think I can ride good on a 20" bike? Do any of you do?

Macneil duece duece frame comes in 22" toptube.
Not sure about complete bikes though.
I'm 6'1 and ride 20" pretty much exclusively. Not that I'm any good at it, but it's not due to the size of the bike. ;)
Go try some out at your LBS (or borrow a friend's), and while you're trying them keep in mind that you pretty much never sit down, so don't let the huge standover clearance put you off.
You can get a long TT on a 20" if you're so inclined, but both of mine are pretty standard and they seem fine. I have long legs though -- if you're 6'1 with short legs you might want the longer TT to better accommodate your upper body.
Alright, thanks. I probably are on the longer legs side, but I planned on going to my local bike shop and trying out some TT lengths before I order the DK off the web.

my roommate is 6'3'' and he rides a 20.25 tt haro... lol... im 5'10'' and a 20.75 feels good on me... id think you would be fine with a 20.75+
I went to my LBS today and tried a bike with either a 20.3 or 20.5 and boy did it feel good. Mainly because it has been so long since I rode a 20" bike, I have been riding a 24" and 26" MTB. I feel like a kid again and can't wait to order my bike. I think he DK Cleveland's 20.5 TT will be fine. Thanks.

Yep, you should be fine man. its all preference anyway
I am 6'0 and have been enjoying my DK Cleveland. My lower back was killing me for the first week or two from being so out of shape and pulling the bars up for accelerating and hopping. Once I got passed that, everything was gravy. If you plan on using the seat at all, I would suggest replacing it for a slightly larger, lighter one. Also be sure NOT to slam it. It will be impossible for you to pedal with the seat slammed. I have mine about three inches from slam. High enough to occasionally sit on and low enough to be out of the way for street moves. I am curious about the feel of a 21" or 22" TTs.

Pro tip: sizing bikes at a shop and then buying them online is lame. Support your shop, they were there for you when you needed to size a bike, why stab them in the back?

Technically with the shipping it'd be what you pay at the shop for some things, but the internet has promo codes. . .

Go to the shop, tell them what your budget is and what you're looking for, and see what happens. Unless they're jerks, they can usually help you more than you'd think.
My Shop carries nothing but Haros and I don't really like much of the $300 dollar bikes, plus not some of the features I want. I buy stuff from the shop all the time for my MTB.

I feel fortunate that there are several well-known bmx companies in my city. Even though the in-shop prices are noticably higher, It's worth it to me to support my local economy. Many times they will show appreciation by working special deals.

Where I live (in the middle of no where - the ****** south) My (only) shop basically only does road bikes, I went in there they had one 20" bike, he said he was about to place a big order, like 6 months before that I went in there and the had two 20" bikes and said he was about to place a big order. How can I support someone that doesn't give me anything to support. If they carried DK I would defiantly buy my bike from there, but they don't.
