Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

We have a small group of CT road cyclists that have never ridden on Long Island but would like to tour some of the highlights. We are thinking of making a day of it by taking our bikes onto the ferry at New London CT and traveling to Orient point. We would like to put a scenic loop together and possibly include Montauk Point, the Hamptons, beaches, etc. Is there some sort of a 'standard' loop by any of the bike clubs that takes in these destinations? A ride of 60 to 90 miles would be fine. I have not had much success finding maps and/or cue sheets on the net for such a loop. Perhaps some of the locals can suggest something. — Thanks!

when do you plan on going?

Only one day or multiday?

A round trip from orient to Montauk and back would be a long day even cutting it off in Sag Harbor and taking the Shelter Island Ferry

If I only had one day I would stick to the north fork or maybe Shelter Island. There is plenty of scenery up there for one day.

If multiday let me know and I could suggest a few routes for the South Fork
