Thought you guys would dig this....I took my Bilenky cargo bike on a bike tour! Not bad for a front loading utility bike.

Stunning! The photography was great. I was watching it like a silent movie. Thank you!

I liked the Bike Art Show, especially the ultra-low budget recumbent with the shopping cart carrier (slide 20) and the peace symbol cog design (slide 25) - this would make a good patch.

Thanks all!
Yes, I'm definitely taking it on more tours. Hopefully a cross-country one next summer! It performed surprisingly well and although I don't think it was designed specifically for touring, it makes a great tourer.
Climbing wasn't too much of a problem and in some ways it was easier than a bike with front panniers because the load was centralized and low. Very impressed with the ride and can't wait to take it on more tours or a few S24Os!

Your pictures are great. What exactly is the benefit of a bike like that? It doesn't seem like you're carrying a whole on the front extended section. Also how did you carry your bikes on the bus/train?
great pictures, looks like you had a good time. I'm also curious about the train, My wife and I recently took our bikes on Amtrak but it was a commuter train so it has bike racks ( I ride an xtracycle so the rack set up is kinda tough to use but it worked). Do the regular trains have racks? Or did you have to disasemble your bikes and box them up? We are planning on doing a ride on the coast this fall and may need to use Amtrak to return home.

It's a Bilenky cargo bike...not carrying a whole lot on tour, but at home, I use it to carry a big Pelican case with photo equipment. The advantage of the design is that it doesn't flex (thick tandem tubing), the weight is always centered (as oppose to the Xtra..where it's on one side or the other)...and it has a killer hand-painted sign for marketing :)
The Bilenky just BARELY fits in the Amtrak train where I took it...it had hooks for the front wheel..the boom tube was literally about an inch from the top of the ceiling!
Amtrak trains in CA are pretty good about bikes...your region may vary....we have a train that goes from San Diego to San Luis Obispo and you don't have to box your bike...just hang it....beyond that, you have to box it and put in baggage.

The Amtrak buses I've encountered (again..it may vary for your region) have cargo holds below them...i just slide my bike into them...
Hey Awesome pictures!
I noticed from some other pictures that you put some bar ends in the middle of those bars. Iam looking to do the same thing as i always find my hands wondering there on longer rides. I was wondering if you would be able to help me out and tell how you did them? What type of bar ends did you use? How did you get them on the handle bars?
Thanks for any help!
By the way awesome bike!!!
Joel.
