I ordered some Hammer bibs, but they are on back order, so I wont get them until the middle of June. So I was thinking about ordering some of the Aerotech bibs and I wonder how true there sizing is. I'm 6'2", 190# with a 38" waist, thanks for any replies.

Aerotech sizing is US and true. They have the charts up on their website.

I'm not familiar with aerotech, but others here are. My general rule of thumb is that if you are between sizes, go with the smaller size. If they are small they will stretch. If they are too large, though, they are unrideable.

For example, I am 6'3", 220 with a 35" waist and I ride a Large in the Hammer bibs. The XLs are way, way too big.

Man, I just ordered the Hammers and they were saying to get the XL.

I am 5'8'' 200 lbs and have a 33 waist. I wear medium Hammer bibs and they fit perfect. You may want to reconsider your size and measurments.

Since they are backordered, call 'em up and see if you can cancel and the Larges! The people at Hammer are pretty cool.

Also the folks at Voler/Velowear have a great return policy. They even provide an envelope for returns with your order!

Thanks, I put that on my to do list for Monday. I was just thinking if I should order 2 pair of the Hammer bibs, or try a pair of aerotech, with the Hammer bibs. It sounds like you guys have had pretty good luck with the Hammers.

I am a big supporter of Hammer products. I use Hammer products on all of my Long distance rides and have had great performance results and success.I have yet too cramp or bonk using their products. Their clothing is some of the best out there also.

Hammer is a company that truly caters to us endurance athletes, and for that I am thankful.:thumb:

I ordered some of these bib shorts on Saturday because I thought the name was pretty cool (ahem). They just called me to confirm my order. I spoke to the nice lady about sizing and she says their clothes actually run a little small. I'm going to stick with the XL. If they're big I'll just send them back. They're not on back order, btw. She said I'd get them in about a week.

Hammer gels, Heed and Perpetuem make me hurl; Endurolytes are awesome, but I prefer NUUN tablets. Although I haven't worn them, Hammer bibs do get some high accolades from the crowd on the LD forum. I've been wearing Performance Ultra bibs and really like them. 6'6", 240#, 38" waist, wear XL in all the Performance brand clothing.

I just talked to Hammer today and switched my order to Large and they said I would have them Thur. I'll let you know how it goes, thanks for the replies.

As for the Aerotech: I wear in between 40 & 42. Should I go XL which is listed as 38-40 or the XXL which is for 42-44. I have a pair of Nike bibs that I LOVE!!! that are XXL. I would buy many more pairs of these bibs if I could find them--they have been discontinued! I bought a pair of PI Attack shorts, not bibs, in XL and can't wear them--they wear me out in the "taint" region. (I know there must be a medical name for that area--surely as people are going through medical school "taint" is never an answer on an anatomy exam!)
I figure I will give Aerotech a shot. I would try the "Hammer" but I can't seem to get over the big billboard down the thigh!

Endurolytes have saved my legs so many times I can't count. Hammer Gel takes some getting used to, some of the flavors are a little hard to get down. I don't handle real food very well on long rides so I tend to stick to the gels.

Even when I ride supported centuries I avoid all foods at the stops.I stop long enough to get water and then I'm back on the bike. I have seen too many people just sticking their hands in the fruit and whatever that it just freaks me out.

The Taint is called the Perineum. ;)

Thanks!!! I really appreciate the information.
I try to learn something new every day. Since it's almost midnight here, and I hadn't learned anything today, I was in danger of ending the day as ignorant as I started it. But, now I won't!!!

I still am waiting on wisdom about going with the Aerotech XL or XXL since I am right between sizes. Better too tight or too loose?

Get them tighter!

Tom Stormcrowe

Agreed, a little tight is much better than a little loose. Too loose and the boys can get trapped between the leg and the saddle and that is NOT pleasant.

But no shorts. Did you get yours?

I'm in the same size area as you. I tried on the XXXL shorts, WAY TOO BIG. I exchanged them for the XXL. I tried riding in them but they were too big also. Since I rode in them I couldn't return them. If and when I do order another pair, I will try the XL. One thing I really noticed about them is, to be blunt, I have NO butt so the 2 sizes I tried were really butt baggy more than not fitting. So if you have some gluts, then actual size might work.

I got my hammer bibs last week (33w ordered L) they fit great and survived a 45mi ride just fine. Probably the best chamois of the three sets of bibs I have (I like the lycra on my castellis better). As for their gels...I've found that fruit flavors are generally nasty (though Hammer Raspberry is ok) and I lean towards Chocolate, Espresso and Vanilla. They sent along some other products that I plan on trying soon too.

I got my L bib from Aerotech yesterday and wore it around the house for a bit. It did make me feel like I was going to be lifted to the ceiling by my crotch, and the straps were a little uncomfortable on my shoulders, but a leisurely 10-mile test ride today went very nicely. I could feel them on my shoulders but they pretty well disappeared everywhere else.

I'm 6'1", 215, 35 waist.

I have butt for days. Shoot me a PM if you want to make a deal. I can either buy them or trade. I have several bibs that I bought that were too tight that I never returned.

 Yes, hammer sends you a bunch of stuff that doesn't suck the first time you buy from them.

Yes, they came Thursday and the guy I talked to Monday said they had large in stock and I had them in large. Anyway they did the trick, I went 35 miles today and they felt great. Just wanted to let you know that I went with the large, because I'm down to 190# now and my waist is 37.5 and I'm 6'2". They fit me perfect.

I think if they didn't send your bibs you might want to give them a call. They should have something on the invoice saying that they were back ordered or something. I think you'll like them, once you get them, good luck.

Does anyone have any opinions on Nashbar's own brand of bibs? They're on sale at the moment, and i'd buy some if I knew whether their sizing ran true/small/big.

(I think this is my first post here: Hi!)

I finally got my Hammer bibs today. They look awesome and the chamois stitching looks much smoother and comfortable than the areotechs. I went with the XL and they are a tad big. I'm 5'11" and run about 215 lbs dripping wet. Now as soon as the temp drops to under 100 I'll take them on a spin ...

Question for all of your sizing measurements: When you say "I have a 35" waist", for example, do you mean (1) you buy pants marked 35, or (2) when you take a tape measure around your actual waist (just below the navel), it's 35". Just curious so I can compare sizing and decide which to order. Thanks!

If your ordering online, some sites have a measuring diagram, in other cases, simply email the companies customer service department and ask BEFORE ordering. It's a lot easier to be sure, then to try and return something the wrong size.

I measured right at my belly button. When I called Hammer they said there sizing ran small, but I didn't find that, that was the case. My measurements are above. The large fit nice and snug and helped with my chafing as well.
