The one on top is C-Record. The one on the bottom is Victory S3 from 1988. Note the more boxy proportions of the Victory as opposed to the curved lines of the C-Record.

P.S.: Those pulleys on the C-Record are worn to the point of being creepy. Yech.

I have an old bike mag clip from 1988 showing this style. Wasn't this Campys transitional design rear derailler? You know, the one between their old vintage Super Record and the indexing Record of today? For years they wouldn't budge on their old fashioned styling, but by the mid 80's had realized they had to do something to compete with Shimano. This was their early attempt at making an index derailler - didn't go over too well. So they switched to the double parallel style common to all modern deraillers.

If I'm not mistaken, Campagnolo's idea of making their derailers indexed was completely unrelated to the stylistic revisions that were given to the lineup in the shape of C-Record, Triomphe, and Victory.

Far as I know, the indexing was an afterthought - particularly so considering the fact that these three gruppos technically share the same exact parallelogram and cage geometry as Super Record (differing only in their treatment of the parallelogram angle stop).

Essentially, I said that the geometry of Super Record and the later groups are pretty much identical - only the cosmetics differed substantially.
