Just miserable out... the sky is thick with overcast, and it's not just on the coast; there's no sun to be found anywhere around here today.
It's cold with just enough wind to chill you down deep. And is that a sprinkle I feel? Oh my gawd, yes, let's add a few drops to the mix.
So, just keep moving or you'll lock up tight as a drum. If you don't generate your on heat, there won't be any. Simple as that.

But that's not enough to stop me, now, is it?
It was a good ride anyway. A short but satisfying 27.5 miles.

I drive up this road -Sneath Lane- when I bring my baby home from day care twice a week.
It doesn't seem that bad. Wonder what it's like to ride up it? Today I found out.
That's it, over to the right, where it says 15.7% and 9.3%. Oy! A half mile of misery.
Followed by another mile of "up".
Yeah, well, I did it so what am I'm complaining about?

I didn't bring the camera... with the clouds, the grey, and the light, there wouldn't be much worth seeing.
But I did get a couple of pictures after I got home.

I walk in the first thing Mrs S asks me, the first thing: Did you do 20 miles?
I did 27.5, says I

To which she said, You haven't been having any pie on your rides.

Seems she made a stop at Marie Callendar. Just for me :D
Razzleberry.

Is she something special or what?
If you rode a bike, she'd be perfect.

Well, you work with what you get! It was supposed to be solid rain/thunderstorms today, but it looked like the storms went North and South of us, so other than being cloudy, warm, and humid, it was OK. I went for a 30-mile ride today, then visited my brand-new granddaughter at the hospital, then took my son out to dinner for his birthday at a Mexican restaurant. Altogether, a pretty good day!

A good day? I'd say!

We had t-storms today. I watched the radar and found an open slot of about 2hrs and got in my intermediate training loop. The elevation profile is shown, about a 25 mile ride. The skys opened up 15 min after I got home. Tomorrow the weather is supposed to be pretty good so I will do a little climbing (about 40m) - the second elevation profile.

As far as the pie goes - I took my daughter out shopping this afternoon as her birthday is next week and I will be traveling. We passed one of our favorite cafes and she said - "Dad, can we skip the birthday cake this year, I'd rather have pie". So we bought her favorite - an apple pie and bought 1/2 gal of vanilla bean ice cream and went home. Not bad for a 7 year old - I have converted her to pie! We enjoyed a nice slice after a quite dinner.

Sounds nice. Where do you get those detailed elevation profiles? Is that something you crank out of a Garmin?

Thats a mighty tasty looking pie there.

We had thunderstorms this afternoon so I made hummus and a key lime pie. It was pretty good but I could go for a slice of that razzleberry.

We didn't ride today. Cgallagh was prepping the tandem for tomorrow's time trial.

Good job on the suffering in the crummy weather, and props to Mrs. SKT for the pie. :thumb:

After a ride such as that- you can count yourself as a Hill climber. And with such dismal weather- you found the advantage of generating your own body heat. And then to finish up with pie!!!!! How good it is to have a thoughtfull and caring wife. I have to buy mine "En Route"

Yep. Data from the Garmin, downloaded to Ascent on my Mac.
I use SportTracks on my PC and it has some nice graphs, too, but I tend to go with Ascent more.

Oh, I am a climber, no question.
They're not super long but they're getting longer... and harder.
And I go looking for them.
The whole point of today's ride was to climb Sneath Lane; the rest was gravy.
But, man, did my HR blow up a couple of times.
I was fighting down from 166BPM probably more times than I should have been and I pushed through to 170 once. No pain, no gain, right?
Seriously; you have to push to improve.

Mrs S. is a catch, isn't she?
I know I was griping about her not riding more but the pie is who she is.
I wouldn't do it if I didn't think I was able to and I don't do it that often.

I looked up SportsTracks - looks good. Thanks for the tip. I will give it a try. It will sure beat loading my Forerunner into Bikely or using the lame software it came with.
