Finished up the mixte last night. The hoods and bartape came in so here is a very happy Mrs S with her new ride http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb150/stringbreaker53/100_1795.jpg
Mixtes are much nicer than regular step-throughs.
Nice work on the bike -- a wise man always strives to keep his wife happy.

Oh she really loves this bike. I didn't even notice till I started to take the pictures and realized she was wearing the green shoes. Does this mean she is OCP? Now I can concentrate on the Bianchi. :) Easthill if you read this I hope to have the Bianchi done and ridden on at least a 30 miler before the TDP.

No matter what you ride, Mrs. Stringbreaker is gonna upstage you on that mixte. I hope you're okay with that ;)

That looks rad! Great work. How did you repaint the frame?

Its not paint its powdercoat. There is a gold color topcoat so I assume they do the green and go back and shoot the topcoat after that. Looks really nice and the sunshine (if it ever shines around here) really picks it up. I know she will upstage me no matter what I'm riding but thats ok she's happy with the results.

It looks absolutely gorgeous! I really must come and visit to see it in person. I think I've mentioned that I won't be at the TdP this year (I'll be in Hawaii). Are you going to do the Headwaters Century?

Might do the 45 mile. Kind of hard to plan that far in advance. Have you done this ride? Looks like it would be pretty neat if the weather is good and September around here generally is pretty nice

Nice. Now she'll be wanting a pink helmet too. Wouldn't want the radicals in A&S giving her grief for riding without a helmet. :D

Oh she got the pink helmet last weekend. This thing took on a life of its own. Originally she didn't want a pink bike but after she picked out the color she thought pink highlights would look good so she got pink highlights. Its a gas for sure. I'm waiting for the decals from JR. Two pink hearts for each of the fork tubes and two downtube decals that read " custom made for Sheila 2008" in pink script

You need to get the rear rack powdercoated pink.

And while you are at it, the bottle cage as well. :)
BTW, I believe my 15 yo daughter would kill for Ms. SB's mixte. The only distraction now, however, is that she started driving on her learners permit two weeks ago. Biking is now a very low priority.

+1 on the pink rack. I was going to get a pink waterbottle cage but she liked the silver one, go figure

Hey SB, have you progressed any further on painting the Volare? If not,it might be your perfect chance to have matching bikes with Mrs. SB! You could go with a pink frame and green accents! :roflmao2:
I'm sorry! I couldn't resist! :o:o I actually like the color pink. I find it very soothing.

Funny you should say that. I'm going to have the Volare done in the Orange with the gold topcoat so it will have that same hard candy coating look as the mixte. No pink for me though. I'm going with grey or black accents

Mr. East Hill and I tried the century last year, and only managed 75 + miles. Mr. East Hill pooped out :( .
I think this year I will go for the 70 miles. I could probably manage the full century, but I will be moving to day shift soon, and my days off will be Sunday with rotating days through the week, so odds are I won't have two days off in a row for most of the organised rides.
I am thinking of doing the Tour de Peaks on July 27. There's a nice sounding metric century for that one. It starts/finishes at Meadowbrook Farm in North Bend.
