A few of you have seen the late-ish (1984) Moto Team Champion with wounded rear dropout I picked up last weekend. Something is bugging me: why did the "Tour de France" level bike come with cheesy peely vinyl sticker graphics, while the Le Champion and Grand Jubilé came with silkscreened graphics? I found a copy of the catalog for that year, and the specs page even states this explicitly. Was there some sponsorship thing that required the vinyl to be removed, and replaced with sponsor graphics. Is vinyl lighter or more aerodynamic than silkscreening?

This frame, being chromed and then partially painted, is in extremely good condition except for the vinyl stickers, which are peeling away everywhere. There's no clearcoat over them, obviously.

Thanks,
