Folks asked for a ride report after we bought my wife a TerraTrike Cruiser.
We went out with the kids yesterday. My daughter is 9 and is riding a 79 Raleigh Grand Prix 10 Speed. My son is 6 and rides a 20 inch wheel single speed walmart bike.
We drove to the local riding path around a small lake during which my wife said she was interested in how to ride to and from that path. Surprised me by saying that she is trying to fit in tiny training rides on MUPs several mornings per week. Anyway, the lake is in a fairly low spot.
We arrived, sunscreened the family, and started around the lake. Halfway around the lake, I lead us up towards town and so she got her first real hill. It was slow for her, but on a trike, you can go as slow as you like---no balance issues. :) Crossing streets on her trike is nerve racking for her even though she is carrying a flag for visibility. Most busy streets she crossed by walking the trike.
In the end, we did 8 miles while looping up through town and having lunch. She still has the recumbent grin and I am thrilled! Funny thing: when on a trike, be sure to sunscreen below the knees! She sunburned from knee to sandals!
