Jamis is the worst brand ever. To put it in the fat comic book guy words Worst. Brand. Ever.

Just purchase a Jamis Citizen and you'll see

I have ridden a dakar xc pro, the durango and and the dakota. They seem very nice bikes. Didn't get the chance to ride the roadies though..

The only issue I saw was the Axel fork on the durango... I don't think it will last that long... And according to reviews I've read, the suck.

The citizen I believe, is a hybrid(correct me if i'm wrong) equipped with 700c semi slicks..

As a roadbike, its not that good.. As an MTB, no it won't work... As a commuter/recreational riding.. It will suffice..

Why do you say it is the worst?

I use a jamis ht as my xc/dj bike and the frame has held up well. Yes I do spec the parts my self so may be it is just the parts they used.

I've got a Jamis Durango AL, circa 1996. Thing has been like a tank. Sure, it doesn't have top end components, but it just keeps on going.

Probably got 6000+ miles on it, mostly~20 mile fitness rides. I've replaced the bottom bracket, chain and cassette for wear. Snapped three or four rear spokes. I upgraded the crank this year, only cause I felt I was neglecting it (ohh, nice shiny roadie). Next year I'll probably replace the quill and handlebars maybe the rear wheel, just for ****s and giggles......cause I'll have run out of upgrade options on the roadie, fixie and single speeder.

Old bikes never die

I've got only a little experience with the Jamis Dakar, because my roommate had one, but I liked it. He loves it and is planning on buying one of the new Dakar XLT's as soon as his scholarship...err, uh, paycheck arrives.

Of course, it's a totally different bike than the citizen.

Yes, the Jamis MTBs are super, but the citizen is the biggest piece of crap I've ever spend 170 bux on. I'd rather ride an exhausted donkey

Ahh.....there's your problem....

I rented a Jamis Citizen and took a trip around Central Park a few summers ago. I didn't find it so bad. It was just a hybrid and found it no different than models made by Bianchi or Schwinn. The Citizen is the least expensive bike sold by Jamis but it's better than any toy store bike out there. In fact, there was a time I was thinking of getting a Jamis Tangier.

If you were expecting the performance of a Cannondale Bad Boy you were going to be dissapointed. You can probably get $125.00 for it on Ebay as the Citizen is selling for $199.00 in New York City.

I ride a Jamis Durango great frame, has worked out very well with me. If you are going to complain, please post reasons why or at least back up your claims. saying that you spent a very small amount of money on a bike and got a "crappy" bike really does not illustrate the problems you are having with the bike.

Alway been a good bang for the buck.The top of the line road bikes are very nice.You got the bike,maybe its you.

You probably broke the cardinal sin when buying a bike. You saw something cheap and you purchased it because of the price.

You have to ride as many bikes as possible. Seriously. Don't look at the price until after you ridden several bikes. I've made this mistake of buying the "nice" looking bike without really testing others. I later found out that a used street bike costing $110.00 dollars rides better than my Bianchi Millano priced over 700 hundred dollars! I learned the hard way that buying an expensive bike does not give you a better ride. To find the perfect bike, you have to test a lot of them.

Jamis makes good bikes but you have to spend more money for the better models. Then again, Jamis may not be your type of bike. Test as many bikes as you can and buy the one that feels the best.

You think the MTBs are super? You must have experience w/ thier bikes, right?

I don't get it... sorry, I'm just confused..

You don't get a $100 dollar hybrid and expect performance of a $2000 MTB/Roadie...

Anyway, try getting a bike that would fit your riding style as well as your budget.. If you prefer to ride off road, try getting an entry to mid level MTB or vise versa. I'm sure you will be more satisfied with what you buy this way. :)

I have nothing against hybrids, in fact I own one.. But I don't expect my hybrid to surpass the performance of my roadbike or my MTB..

Hybrids are all about relaxing, fun rides.. nothing extreme.. ;)
