bike came with just one and it was arsed, (plastic number that had been abused horribly by the wrong tools) currently have a couple of rubbish, grey plastic shimano covers keepin the crap out, any sugggestions where i can find nice replacements for a crank cover to go on a suntour crank on a 70`s Falcon Black Diamond in silver with a red bar tape

Have you tried your local bike shop?

yup, but the best they could offer was a pair of grey cheap plasticy things (which i got as an interim fix), i`d like something a bit more in keeping with the bike tho

the ruined one was a nice dark red plastic screw-on, suntour branded.

This one "looks" ok for less than $2

I bought some campy equivalent metal ones for $5 each - can't remember what vendor - but an internet search should turn one up.

they`re good but if i`m getting replacements for something that is functional i guess i should be fussy -

they bike is mostly silver and chrome so i think the covers need to contrast this a bit.
