I have a 2000 Stumpjumper Comp. I've beaten the crap out of the original Judy XC, and I'm in dire need of a new fork (finally!). Specialized is spec'ing the Fox F90 RL on their 2008 models. I have two questions:

-I don't know how much travel the XC has, but can I safely go with 90mm of travel on this bike?

-Just so I have some choices on what to get, what else is out there in the same quality vs. price range (or one step down) as the F90 (or F80)?

I have v brakes, so the fork would have to have the bosses. Many thanks.

You should be ok on a 80, 90 or 100.

Thank you, Smash. Any advice on alternative/competing forks? Is the SID in the same range? Others?

Sid is same range, there's a bunch in the same range, magura, dt swiss, marzocchi, manitou, white brothers, rockshox all make something in the same range.

The Reba Race is a good fork. It is much more durable that the SID and compares favorably to comparable Fox forks.
