i`m looking for a pair of summer gloves.

i may be harping back to my youth a bit but i`d like to get a nice pair of well padded short fingered gloves with a padded leather palm and crocheted back.

any suggestions?

Cheap option :-

Expensive option :-

Other than that it's second hand

I know these are on the wrong side of the pond for you, but is this closer to what you had in mind?

the `performance` glove is good but i kinda like these

http://i4.ebayimg.com/01/i/000/b9/3f/8cac_1.JPG

they`re very cheap (currently £1.20) and remind me of the pair i had 20 years ago.

i know they are actually horrible but i ride in all weathers and my bike drops its chain at least 3 times a day so the Rapha`s just aint an option, they`d be ruined in a week.

these puppies can only look beter with a load of muck rubbed into them

Horrible? Hardly. I had a pair of Cycle Pro black crochet gloves in the mid 80's that I loved. I still have a pair of Specialized crochet glove that I bought in Vail, Colorado back in '95. They are still going strong despite many other modern gloves that have long since bitten the dust. The only thing I don't like about them are the funky spotted tans I get on my hands when riding with them. ;)

Larry Black sells NOS leather gloves for a fair price on ebay

Here is an example of french gloves from 1978:

If your bike drops its chain three times a day, I think your bigger problem lies there, rather than in the type of gloves you are wearing.

I used to use the Spenco gel crocheted gloves, but switched to the Performance ones about 2-3 years ago. I use them exclusively, now. Big bang for the buck at $6.99 (on sale).

There are heaps of them on eBay... also on my old Judas Priest album covers!

yes i know

old bike tho.

the chain ring doesnt run true so it can tend to throw the chain when changing up to the larger ring

i`ve been trying to true em up but not had much luck yet, there`s been other more important jobs to do.

i doubt i could swap them for new uns as they are a 3 bolt design and anyway i`d need to check the spider and crank spindle too

all jobs for a rainy day in my book.

in the mean time i just reach down and put the chain back on while i`m coasting

My 80s Cycle Pros are still doing fine. They became my commuter gloves when I picked up a new pair of crocket gloves at Performance Bike Shop (under $10 and after 700 miles are holding up well). And I kind of like the spotted tan. At my age, people just assume they are age spots.
