Well, I just got my first ride in after the crash a couple of weeks ago. Granted, I have to admit to a small amount of nervousness after as hard as I went down in the crash, but as soon as I got back on the joy hit. :D My shoulder is still pretty sore, but the riding position doesn't seem to make it worse, and the aerobars were even comfortable. :D
I did this ride with one of my Math Profs from school......now that I'm a grad, there can be no worries about impropriety. :D This was her first ride in a long time as well without the kids tagging along, and hasn't been doing much riding at all. "J" and I were shooting for a nice easy, flat 10 miler, but it turned into a 25 miler, more or less (Actually24.2, but who's counting. :)). We fought out toward Battleground, Indiana, pushing a headwind all the way. It was great! Good burn going in the legs and everything. All the way out, we were thinking about the tailwind home.......WRONG! The blasted wind shifted. :P As a result, a tailwind all the way back as well.
Looks like this will be an every Sunday ride, in varying miles and routes for us and her goal is to do the Williamsport loop by the end of Summer......84 miles. :D
I'm sure going to be encouraging "J" to join up....she IS an Athena, after all.
Sounds good. Nice to see you back out there. Isn't the HTH Century coming up soon?

Tour de Cure Century, in 2 weeks! I think I'm going to be OK> :D The shoulder cooperated quite well. Sore, but going well.

Glad to hear it. Sounds like a good ride to ease back into it too - there's nothing more satisfying than that realisation that you can go further...

You were chasing tornados on your first ride after crashing? That's hardcore!
Before I got back into cycling, I stayed off the bike for 10 years after a hard crash. I guess you aren't as chicken as I am.

Well this post is the last straw! I finally broke down and bought a helmet. :D
If Mr. Stormcrowe can crash I guess I can too. I got a nice Giro Monza, and can barely tell this thing is even on my head. Better late than never I guess, and better before a crash.:D
Oh yeah, I also picked up a nice new Trek 7.3 FX. lol It sure is different than my Trek Navigator, feels like the different riding position is using my leg muscles differently and will take some getting used to. It's also very nice to get a frame in the proper size and not have 8 inches of seat post out.
Thanks for your post Tom, it made me think about the helmet, or rather, I've been thinking about one but your post finally pushed my thought to action.
