I mean RAVENOUS? I rode for a good distance (for me, at this time in my life, it was a great ride. Only 30 miles, but it has been well over a year since I have ridden that far, since I had a double knee replacement in November.

Anyway, I had plenty of fluids and granola bars to much on on the way to and back, but when I go home, it was carb-heaven! Is this normal, or what can I do about it. I did eat a good meal before I went out...

I must tell you....somehow I did something in my settings and the picture of your two dogs are somehow now my background on my laptop :D I was going to change it but they're so cute I just left it. This happened about a month ago and I couldn't ascertain whose picture it was until I clicked on this thread. I must have clicked on it and somehow copied it as my background.

On to your question.....I run and bike. I find that biking makes me ravenous and it's very easy to put in way more calories than I've actually expended. I don't have this feeling after running; it tends to dull my appetite. Not sure I have tons of great advice except trying to fill up on low cal veggies and fruits post ride and drink plenty as well. Also, small frequent balanced meals work better than a big meal for me.

Good job on the ride, BTW

Seriously, I had a turkey sammich with lettuce, tomatoe, and stadium mustard, an apple, a banana, and a few chips, along with some really good V-8 Splash Fruit Drink.

I then tool some granola bars and enough water, but when i got home, wow, was I in a carb-load rage.

Memorial day Monday, I rode solo for 68 miles for the first time. When I got back I was looking for a horse.

Open fridge, tilt into mouth. My wife finds it utterly astounding.

I eat a lot in advance of big rides (carbo load) and usually go so hard I can't eat much afterward. I do make sure I have a recovery drink right afterward though. It really helps ... recovery.

I like a big Cafe au Lait after a big ride. With a Red Robin cheeseburger chaser.

Strangely, I was not hungry after yesterday's century. Well, the small plate of spaghetti right after helped a bit, but I barely could eat two pieces of pizza at dinner time.

So I guess the answer is..... Sometimes.

Nice DD reference.

I'm on a hunt down after you.

As for eating, I go through phases. I ate a lot after Saturday's ride, but Sunday I found I had a hard time piling it on.

That said I am sure I ate more than most mere mortals.

1# 1,2oo calorie burrito requires a +50 mile buy-in IMO. Damn it's good, though.

Oh, they bought in, alright. 63 miles and 6700 feet of climbing on Saturday. 100 miles of flattish century at 5 hours on Sunday.

Dig in, boys. Burritos for all!

I was just getting my climb going late in the ride yesterday. It was the Country Time / Gatorade mix.

Too bad there were no hills. :D

Guac is my downfall for racing with hills. When my mom-in-law makes guac all bets are off.
