Chime in if you were on the Ride for Heart in Toronto this morning (on a folder or mini-bike...)! :)

I did the 75K on my highly customized Dahon Helios and I didn't see any other folders or 20" bikes. Too bad they don't have event photos, like a camera that fires at intervals from nice vantage point. If you think that we crossed paths, I was primarily in white & black kit - with red taped drop bars.

One lady I talked to briefly asked me why I chose to ride a folder, to which I responded: "It's my ONLY bike." :)

Great event, I got a ton of compliments and friendly comments from other riders this year. And only one guy asked me if I put my bike in the hot water cycle (i.e. shrunk)... ;)

Apparently users 'sprockets' and 'cooker' were there (click for "ultimate laundry" post (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=424762))

User 'archer-ca' said earlier that he would be there on his orange Downtube.

I decided not to do 100K this year, since I got barely any sleep the night before (coffee: bad, excitement: bad) - plus my 11-26 + 54T Rotor Q-Ring (57T max effective size) made the climbs a bit more challenging.

hey sprockets - for sure, I threw a link in there so no one will miss your laundry notes :)

Just wanted to start a more identifiable threads for anyone who skipped over your "laundry" topic, not realizing what it was really about. I would echo your comments about the winds... on the return the wind on the Gardiner was fierce. I hate the Gardiner - it's definitely not the highlight of the ride and it makes for a drawn out finish.

Like you I took a big nap after the event, then I woke up with a terrific craving for some protein so I hit a local take-away and have been eating chicken & beef shwarma ever since. So yeah, eat - sleep <repeat>. :)

Your scotch idea is right on the mark - slainte!

Yup, I was there, with my wife and granddaughter.

I rode my Strida, my 10 yr old granddaughter rode her Giatex folder (16" wheels), and my wife rode her Maxarya recumbent (20" wheels).

We only did the 50k route, as it was the first time for my granddaughter, and we weren't sure how well she would do. As it turned out, she had a good time, and wants to do it again next year!

Saw some Bike Fridays, Dahons, Halfways, and about half a dozen recumbents.

The Strida sure generated a lot of comments and questions.

Ha! You certainly did see some Bike Fridays, that was me that was talking to you at the turn around point at York Mills!

hey autoworker, good stuff on the strida. wish i could have made it out!

how did u find the hilly parts? i commuted once along yonge st (yeah death wish) from front up to st clair, and for the single-speed, i found it pretty manageable.

maybe next time i'll take sherborne?

The hills were no problem. Just wish I had a higher gear for the downhill parts!

Since I got the Strida about a month ago, I've been using it for my daily 10 mile round trip commute to work. I live in the north end of Oshawa, and the GM plant is at the south end of town, so my trip home is all uphill. I guess it's been good training for the Ride for Heart.

:( Alas, I missed out on the great ride. My lil' girl was sick the past two weeks and as she's gotten better I took over her cough and sniffles. My Orange Downtube sat in the corner very depressed.

Caught a few scenes on the news and it looked great. The weather was perfect for it, cool and not overly sunny.

Next year!!

Congrats to all that went and did the ride!!:speedy:
