Rogue Leader

My short Tri-story. So I started training in January for my first triathlon August 24th. I needed motivation to get back into shape, after hernia surgery last year. I was a Varsity High School runner but that was 10 years ago. Joined a pool, got new running shoes, the whole 9 yards. I intended it all to be just like an exercise and something to work towards.... Little did I know my competitive spirit would take over (I race cars as well) and the feeling I got when I used to run in high school would come back. Plus I realized I was working my balls off for only 1 event, I needed more. So I signed up for a second one! June 15th.
It gets worse, I have since purchased the following: Road Bike, helmet, bike computer, aero bars, aero bottle, bike repair tools and parts, tri jersey, tri shorts, wetsuit, goggles, noseplugs, ironman watch, extra sunglasses, and all sorts of other miscellaneous odds and ends I will need to do this. Yeah so now I'm into this for $1000+ and I haven't even done my first event yet.
HOWEVER, I've got some friends competing in it (and even more in Aug) as well, and I had to make sure I will beat them (being that I was a high school track star!), so now I'm better prepared, I've been training harder, so I will have no problem kicking their butts barring any unforeseen circumstances.
I guess the point is, I love this sport already and I haven't even done my first event yet. I'm in the best shape I've been in for 10 years, I can finally swim more than a lap without passing out, I discovered I REALLY like road biking (and I wish I had gotten a road bike instead of a mountain bike as a kid cause its so fun to go so fast), and I think i look damn good in a wetsuit LOL.
Anyone else from Long Island doing the Gold Coast Sprint Triathlon on June 15th?
