View Full Version : Hate my Cat Eye
I bought a Cat Eye online a year ago - cant remember the model but the face is about 1in wide by 1 1/2in long - just a basic model. I had a hard time seeing the numbers since it was small and with my polarized sunglasses, it was difficult to see because of distortions in the plastic facing of the unit. My battery is now dead and I plan to kill the entire unit. So want to buy a new wireless unit of some type and am looking for a suggestion. Needs to be easy to read, am looking for moderate to low sophistication - speed, cadence, odometer etc. I usually travel with my Garmin Nuvi so don;t need GPS.
Appreciate your suggestions - i realize the request is farily non specific but what I am wanting to really understand is unit with good screen visibility
thanks

I hate my cat eye too.
I had the mega$ with HRM and the works.
The flipping POS gets into lap mode and you can mess with it for hours trying to get it out.
I hate that freaking thing.
Jump in Cat Eye haters !

Hate Cateyes... I think they are pretty durable, but I find the user interface baffling -- figuring out how to get it to do what I want is never intuitive.
Just got an Edge 305 - love it! Yes, it's got GPS, but it doesn't really navigate, so you can get one and keep your nuvi!
Well contrary to my original post (on just getting a basic cyclocomputer) i talked to to many supposed bike friends this week - and they pushed me to the Edge 305 as well. Did my research and what I really like is the Edge 705 (but not the price tag at $500). I am directionally challenged and I like the idea of having a GPS to follow. Have had a portable Garmin Nuvi for about 3 yrs which I take when I drive and travel and on occaision on the bike. But it is a pain to pull out of my back pouch, open up and even cycle with one hand and holding the Garmin with the other. How does the Edge 305 GPS work? I looked at it briefly but wasnt sure - don;t think there is a map on the screen?
love you get your pov

There's more than one way to skin a dead CatEye.
