Fifty Plus (50+) - New non-LBS site

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just placed an order on a new bike parts site a friend recommended - biketiresdirect.com
These guys have pretty good prices, better than Nashbar & Performance who I frequently buy from. I did not find a coupon code in that section of BF but only needed a few things (one being some CO2 cartrages - ah but that's another thread). Speaking of CO2 - I tried Hydrogen - you know, cause it's lighter, but you should have seen what happened when I got a blow out. :roflmao2:
Hope this doesn't get me censored!
I've used biketiresdirect before and was happy with service, selectivity, and price.
I'm afraid to use hydrogen in my tires...ya know...fast as I am and all...the heat from my tires could cause one hell of an explosion.

Nitrogen is supposed to be the THING for tire inflation. Supposedly the molecules are larger so they won't migrate through tire/tube walls or out the valve as quickly if at all. (I got this mostly from the commercials of a local auto tire vendor) but it has to count for bike tires too, yes? I've never seen little CO2 like canisters of Nitrogen though.
On topic, I've also had good luck with Biketiresdirect, though I have no affiliation other than finding them with Google looking for... wait for it... BIKE TIRES! :-)

I use a mixture of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, and 1% argon. :)
I get my CO2 cartridges at Wally World.

I've been happy with them as well. For those of us on the west coast, biketiresdirect is super quick on delivery.

They can't be that selective if they let us in.:p

I use a mixture of mostly Nitrogen mixture too... and I figure if I do this, then those larger Nitrogen molecules will force out those pesky smaller molecules, so over time I will get a higher and higher volume of Nitrogen... It will never be pure, but it should get close enough for me. ;)

What a classic response to marketing hype!

I lied when they asked: Are you, or have you ever been associated with anyone claiming to be a member of BF50+ or any other subversive organization?:twitchy:

On the other hand, hydrogen which is a small enough molecule to leak through the walls of black iron pipe, will not stay in your tires very long.
When you finish a ride on your hydrogen filled tires, make sure that the ground crew uses proper antistatic proceedures to dock the bike.
I have used Bikesdirect too and they were fine. On the second topic of this thread I have been experimenting and having very good luck filling my tires with............................................................air. :giver:

Get out of the way, please! Oh, the humanity! (http://www.audiosparx.com/sa/play/port_lofi.cfm/sound_iid.44823)
