Well a little over a week ago i bought my first bike, a Trek 7100. Within the last week i have commuted to and from work 4 times, (only an actual cummute of 1.5 miles one way, but i have found myself takeing longer rides before going to work probably 4-5 miles or so). Friday I took a MUP 6 miles to the next small town and back for a 12 mile trip. Today i took same said path to the town after the one i went to last friday for about a 12.5 mile trip and back for 25 miles. I bought the bike with my goal to be to ride about 50 miles by the end of summer somehow i think that i will need to change that quite a bit sense i have done half that in the first week. Not bad for a 5'-9" 270lb clyde.
So in just over a week i am completely broke, wearing spandex, and exhausted, but i loved every minute of it and i cant wait to get back out there tomorrow.

You and I are about the same size. I am so inspired by all the clydes out there. We may look silly in clothes that defy physics, but we are out there.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I did the 25 mile ride again today and was pleased as I did notice some improvement, I was comfortable riding in a slightly higher gear alot of the way. Tomorrow I think I will lighten it up a bit and do between 5-10 miles with a pace that takes some effort. Hopefully if all goes well this weekend I will attempt 50 miles!

Well it was an alright weekend for me. I set a goal to do 100 miles from mon-sun, which i just barely completed today. It has been storming in michigan most of the weekend. I got another 25 cranked out yesterday on my attempt 50 in a day, but i got 12.5 miles in and the sky darkened up real bad, so i decided to turn it around thankfully i got home about 20 minutes before the storm hit. That left me with 88 miles for the week (excluding my commute miles), and i didnt think I was going to be able to get the last 12 in becuase it was supposed to rain rain and storm all day. But there was a break in the weather around 6pm so i took it and got 14 miles leaving me with a total of 102 for the week. I had to stop and carry my bike over 4 different downed trees laying across my path, and another storm hit about an hour after I got home. GOAL= ACCOMPLISHED not bad for a 270 Lb clyde's second week on a bike me thinks, next weeks goal 150 miles. This cycling stuff is addictive.
