Northern California - Davis area laid back ride - Part II, July 27th (SUNDAY!)

Yeah, let me go back in and monkey around with it to detour the ride off Covell/31 onto Lake to get us into a more comfortable riding zone. I'll get it updated by tonight sometime.

The weather report is clear with a high of 93, so it's looking like a great day for a ride. I hope everyone wanting to come out and ride can make it!

I found a new fork for my bike today, so I'm all set. Thanks to all who offered up help - you all are really a great bunch!

I "garaged" my bike after returning from the central coast century the night before last. After the six hour drive, I totally forgot it was up there...until I heard the crunch. I sure felt like an idiot, but I'm happy it was only the fork that was damaged.

If you're wondering, I ended up replacing Litespeed's OEM Real Design HP Pro (http://www.real-design.com/2005/hppro.aspx) with an Orbea OEM Zeus AICCS SL like this one (http://i8.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/fa/89/01f6_1.JPG).

Also, thanks for reminding me that the ride's on Sunday. I definitely would have been sitting there Saturday morning, wondering why everyone decided to take off early...

7:30 will probably work out well if most folks can make it then; we'll get to Cantelow sooner (read cooler) and Steady Eddy's sooner... ;)

That was a fantastic ride today with a great bunch of people. Great Fun !! I especially enjoyed tussling with sweetnsour on the tandem and the gentleman on the low racer recumbent (I think he was called Craig). He was seriously quick on that thing. I think the only thing that was laid back was my riding position :)

I too had a great time, a great group of people. I now know I need a cog larger than 25 for Cantelow. I made it up without walking but had to stop and catch some air before the final ascent. I look forward to getting together for more biking fun.

Chris and Red Rider took a spill at the corner after the bridge. My stoker Lisa was quick to get on the ball and render aid. All was fine, but it was later decided that the doggies belonged in the doghouse after all. Maybe some more practice on the tandem will serve them well.

It was a great ride today. Met some awesome new people, some who like to ride really fast! Man, I'm gonna be sore tomorrow, but in a good way!

Huy(theskigod) and Joe(Rushfan), let me know if you want to get together after work or on the weekend for some local riding. This invite goes to any other locals whose name I did not catch or remember.
