What is up with this wind? I go one direction, the wind is in my face. I go in the opposite direction and the wind is in my face!

I dont remember Colorado being this windy!

Hehe! Yep, that is colorado for ya. It happened to me at E-rock. I was sooo looking forward to the second half because the first half was the wind in my face. Made the turn and what do you know....wind in my face. Grrr!

Well we are stronger riders cause of it. Right? :D

No wind here. Now that I have cursed myself, I'm heading out for a quick 20 miles soon. L

I did Lookout Moutain this morning and coming down hwy 40 on the west side was scary windy! I was so happy to be back at the bottom. I kept one foot free the entire way down as there were several times the gusts nearly blew me over.

I had crazy windy rides up the high grade road above Deer Creek Canyon and Lookout/Paradise last week. However, we (my wife and I) did a beautiful ride up Deer Creek to to High Grade to Turkey Creek this Sunday without much wind at all up high. The wind seemed to be down on the plains because it was at our backs while climbing (rare!) and a bit of a cross when we got back down.

I would still rather be dealing with CO wind than DC humidity. I am in Washington until Thursday night and really missing my daily rides.

Same thing here. Rode into a headwind, stopped for lunch and headed back-into a headwind! Rats!

When I rode that way last week, I kept thinking, "at least the wind will be at my back up Paradise..."

It figures, after the first bend on Paradise, I was straight into the wind. It is bad enough that the road is killer steep, but that was just insult on injury. Felt good when I completed it though and I have to say that the ride back down to Golden was actually more unpleasant with the sudden crosswinds while cruising fast.

I had a bizarre sidewind \ tailwind both ways on my north \ south out and back training route.
Weird.

Lived outside of Loveland for 13 years on Masonville Rd. The wind would blow so strong at times that it made the windows in our house hum.
Just remember the 3 rules of cycling:
1. Theres always a head wind
2. It's always the rear tire
3. There's always someone in the curve.

Its like Wyoming.

Wyoming's worse, never seems to stop blowing here. Night time usually gets pretty calm though. Though they say a chance for snow tonight :P

HAH!! Been meaning to start a blog called "perpetual headwinds" dedicated to Colorado road cycling.
Past Sunday a friend and I cycled from Rollinsville to Ward where we split up - he heading on north to complete the loop to lyons/boulder, myself turning around and heading back south and home.
The kicker?
We BOTH had headwinds after we separated!
Beat that!

Those are the times when I repeat my mantra : HTFU.

Boulder time trial, last night, big wind and rain and lightning. A great opportunity to harden up.

My belief is that in CO, it never actually blows from one direction, but circles around from different directions.

Here in Parker, however, we do get a consistently south wind every morning, often changing to north in the late morning/aftrnoon.

Since my usual route is south, then turning around (about mid morning), I usually get a head wind all the time.

I consider the wind to be one more free training aid!

Wind has altered my view of commuting. 2005 was my best commuting year, and I was riding sleeveless in April at 5:00 a.m. Wind? What wind? 2008, and things have changed (http://www.usairnet.com/cgi-bin/launch/code.cgi?Submit=Go&sta=KCOS&state=CO). Peak wind, 95% of the time from the south (on my southward journey at 6:00 p.m.), and 12 hours later, it swings around from the north, and it's 45 degrees in frakkin' June. Did I piss off someone up there?

Bah.

I think it has been a wee bit cooler and windier this year. I swear I was in shorts and a jersey last year at this time. I'm still wearing a jacket with warmers. hmmm

I thought yesterday's ride was windy. I actually didn't ride today because I knew it would be unpleasant. Crazy. I was sitting by a pool with a friend as he brought his daughter for a swim. The wind was lifting water out of the pool and spraying it all over me.
