Well, I just arrived at NWS Charleston for Nuke Power School, so I will be here almost 2 years.

However, for the next month, I have no vehicle. So I am trying to find some group rides that start near NWS Charleston so I can start to learn the area.

And if there aren't rides near, then I am interested in finding some routes starting near the base so I can avoid the major roads.

I hate not knowing an area and I want to ride more than just base housing and the base itself.

Check out the coastalcyclist website (http://www.coastalcyclists.org/rides.htm). There is also, or there used to be, a shop called "Charleston Bicycle Company" on Hwy 17 West of the Ashley. Its been a number of years since I lived in Charleston so, things have likely changed a bit. Unfortunately this shop, if it's still there, will be a good distance from where you are located. But, they can probably provide the information that you are seeking.
