Warning: I barely know anything about bikes
I recently purchased an '07 Kona Dew Deluxe (http://www.cyclerscafe.com/AroundTownBikes/Kona/DewDeluxe.aspx) (new, and stock as far as I know). It's been riding like a dream for a time, but within the past day or so, something's started catching on the down pedal. There'll be a momentary grinding feeling under my foot, and the pedal will hiccup and have to be started again. Really throws off my rhythm.
Since
-it only happens when I'm pedaling standing, when I'm putting my weight on the pedal
-it is very common (every few seconds) on high gear and not very on lower
-I tested the wheels motionless and it cycled through the gears fine and at the highest possible speed
I'm going to assume that too much pressure is being put onto the chain (?), and it doesn't like that.
