I am curious if anyone makes a universal brake system for electric bike motors that disengages the motor when the brake is applied. I would guess cutting the voltage would meet the requirement.

I can already see that I am going to need a Cycle Analyst (formerly called DrainBrain) system to prove that I have limited the speed

GA state law defines an electric bicycle in this way

Code: Select all

The reason for meeting the requirement is kinda silly but one I must meet.

Pretty well all production e-bikes have a switch in the brake handles that connects to a brake indicate wire at the controller. Check with your local dealers they should be able to get you a set.
