Triathlon - Are all aero seatposts pretty much teh same fit?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I just purchased an 07 Quintana Roo Dolce frameset and I have to find a seatpost for it. What specs do I need to look at as far as fit and length go? THe conventional round seatposts were so easy to shop for; just OD and length and you were good to go. Thanks
Most aero seatposts are proprietary. Though I don't have experience with that specific seatpost, your best bet is probably to contact the manufacturer or start looking on eBay :(

You could look at the Profile Design Razor (carbon) or Razor AL (aluminium). They come in 3 lengths. Go to the Profile website and get the data on each. It is important to get one short enough so that all of the aero tubing fits above your seatpost clamp at the saddle height you use. Just measure you conventional seatpost from the fram up to the saddle and make sure that the aero section ordered is less than that.
All this assumes that you are dealing with a more or less conventional bike that you want to add an aero seatpost to. Many of the modern high end frames come with their own post.

While you may be lucky within the same brand, I expect it's safe to assume that there is no compatibility at all between brands of frame.
Best (and probably only) shot is to get in touch with a QR distributor or QR themselves.
(though exactly what brand your frame actually is may differ from whose stickers are on it!)
