Hey gang! Didn’t post in a while. Had some college work, but now I’m off and back! Glad to see that most of you are still here, and many new members as well. Anyways, I got a question. Currently on my bike I have a TTT Forgie XL Handlebar, here is the pic http://www.pricepoint.com/detail.htm?stylepkey=12391&style_id=195%20TTTFH3&dept_id=3&deptName=Parts&sub_id=62&subName=Handlebars/Bar%20Ends&lprice=59.98&hprice=59.98&detailName=TTT%20Forgie%20XL%20Handlebar . It’s oversized, and my computer’s (Cat Eye Enduro 2) mounting platform is a bit too small to fit around the bar, close to the stem. That’s where I want it. So the whole season it was buggin me how far off to the side my computer was, stilling a valuable hand position  . So the question is: is there any gadget that I can use to address my issue? Accept for zip ties or a new handlebar :) .

Thanks all. Dexmax, how did you manage to place your computer on the stem itself? unless you have a different computer... And yes, please post your pic!

I suggest taking the computer mount to a local car audio store and befriending one of the better stereo installers. They are usually quite good at making things out of plexiglass. I have a friend that works in that industry and he has made some pretty trick computer mounts for some local guys. Usually he makes them to fit like a spacer on top of the stem and the computer head is suspended over the top of the stem.

I had the same problem when I got my Zurich. I have a Cateye Enduro 2 mounted right on the handlebar. I just called Performance in Fremont, Ca, and they had one left. It has the normal screw for tightening the bracket, but below the handlebar it goes together like a zip tie. It will fit a fairly large bar. You put it on the handlebar with the screw adjusted in just a few threads, then pull the zip tie part as hard as you can to tighten it. Then you cut off the zip tie, and tighten it fully with the screw. It is the Cateye Bracket Sensor Kit 169-6560N. That's 169-656(zero)N. That's what I'm using with my Enduro 2, and it works fine. I hope this helps. I haven't checked the Performance site yet to see if they sell it online.

Good riding.

Dave

<edit> I checked the Performance site, and it looks like they don't carry it as a normal item. I checked the Cateye site, and can't find it either. The guy at Performance told me on the phone it is probably a special order item, so you'll have to go where you bought the computer and ask. I think it cost me $15.

I e-maled the CatEye company, now waiting for their reply. If nothing good comes out of that, I'll go to my LbS and ask for that bracket. Thanks for the tip.

If you have trouble getting it, wend me an e-mail. That kit will probably hang on the peg at Performance for quite a while.

It's not something in their online store, my local store keeps some other stuff on hand that we cyclists need. They have the item on hand. Let me know if you have a problem getting it.

I would think those babies would be walking out of the store. I'd like to have mine mounted there.

You need to CALL Cateye. CATEYE Phone # (http://www.cateye.com/smallparts01.php?products_id=56) Looks like you already have the P/N.

That's what I did back when I had a problem fitting my Cateye on my oversized handlebar (31.7mm). Pix below.

I actually received a reply to my E-mail. They claimed that they do carry all these parts under “small parts” listing and I should refer to their site. However when I checked the site, there were no any pics of the products not even any explanation/description on what it is for  . That part of the site is currently under construction.... Sure I can give them a call, but I would like to look at it before I buy it. I will check my LBS first. Thanks for the reply and the pics.:D

Try using a computer mounting bracket for aerobars on your stem a la dexmax. They're not expensive and will fit most stems.
