Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Check this out, found it on "Day in Pictures" from BBC. This was a pretty damn expensive single speed. With all that money, you think you would have gotten a couple gears or something.... :o

"This 24 carat gold bicycle, commissioned by the UK's Environmental Transport Association, is on sale for £9,500. It has an optional extra of a security guard, as bicycles over £4,000 cannot be insured." -BBC

For all of that money you would have thought they would have used something other than deep v's and taken the stickers off.
I hope they fix that front wheel before someone purchases a gold bicycle with a flat tire.

gold and white looks sweet to me... gold plating the thing was a bit much, great for anti corrosive and UV protection, but think about the weight it adds to the frame

Yeah but think about the increased heat dissipation.
On a bike that hot you're gonna need all you can get! Hey-o! *swings invisible golf club*

Tire is the correct American spelling and tyre is the correct British spelling, just fyi.

i am interested in the personal security guard...maybe i could hire one to stand by my bike at all times instead of an old fashion u-lock
For that much money I want better bars and some cages on the pedals...or at least a front brake.
9,500.00 GBP = 18,562.85 USD

Well, this bike costs magnitudes less, and with some experimenting with a dremel, a motor, and a light vacuum...

so for anyone who is interested, this is just a Charge (company) Plug (model). your typical 4130 cro-mo entry-level bike
http://www.evanscycles.com/large_images/Y6165Q_BIG.jpg
they stripped the paint, coated it in copper and then gold... then threw on some deep v's and apparently a different saddle and bar tape. pretty sad in my opinion.

This reminds me of the episodes of Martha Stewart where she would gold leaf things gratuitously.

That "tyre" isn't flat, it's stuck between two street stones to keep it upright while the security guard plays with himself. Of course this tasteless company would use helvetica on this piece.

That's the thing about real Democracy. Sometimes we (by we I mean the south) make a horribly poor decision based on emotional responses to...I don't know....international terrorism (Remember the World Trade Center imploding actually happened). Even in the face of 50% of our population being directly opposed to our leader we still support and roll with our collective decision. Maybe Quebec could use some of our national unity?
Also I bet about now the Penguins are wishing the British Empire hadn't abandoned Fort Detroit Eh?

Ohhh, and what do we have? Pseudo-democracy? Mock-democracy? Oh, I know! Let's call it "vegan" democracy so we can charge more for it than the real thing!
I love it when people make underhanded disparaging comments like that. "Real democracy" my ass....
Other considerations...
America Landed on the Moon....Canada made a Mechanical Arm for the Space Station.
America has made some of the greatest films ever made.....Canada has Kenny Vs. Spenny
America has been Independent since 1776...Canada has been "declaratively" independent since 1982.
I can go on for days...I still haven't even gotten into Cirque Du Soleil.

well over 50 percent are dissatisfied with Bush (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20070607/bush-ap-poll/)
^ which makes my point even stronger.
(P.S. Canadians love their education/socialized medicine but they still can't pronounce "ou" sounds yet.)
You know I'm just messing with you though....I love Canada! Even though Canada Day is kinda wimpy comparatively to our 4th of July you guys still are pretty cool. I've met at least 2 amazing Canadians with actual personalities who make your country worth keeping around.
i work with the worst canadian ever. he doesn't like Poutine, or hockey. =(
Ewww...I recant my previous statement. Down with Canada!

Canadians put Canadian flags on their backpacks when travelling abroad... Americans do the same so that people won't hate them.
Canadians aren't loathed the world over for their often brutal, underhanded, and war-mongering foreign policy... Americans... are.
Americans are, statistically speaking, fatter.
Canadians produce some of the world's tastiest wines, and are exclusive producers of ice wine... Americans introduced wine in a box.
Quebec makes world-class cheese... Americans make American cheese, a world-class travesty.
Canada is home to the world's best sniper... America is home to the world's biggest hamburger.
Last but not least...
America elected George W. Bush TWICE... Canada... didn't.
We could do this all day. Both countries have their strong points and their weak points. Stop being such a dick.
Also percentage-wise America has only officially sucked for the last 8 years. So let me break that down by saying we have a disputable yet very compelling 224 years of success. Canada has had....25 years of Swiss-esque-passive-fence riding under its belt...
We made NATO and NAFTA which your country enjoys the benefit of being a part of. We are the most generous nation in the world when it comes to economic aid and development. Pretty much Canada trails us in nearly all measurable aspects, good or bad.
How soon the world who loathes us forgets that we saved the whole friggin' world from saluting a German or Japanese flag every morning in school.

Also I think it's pretty disrespectful to say we're "fence sitting" while we still have people in Afghanistan.
You might want to ask yourself why it is that your country never "war mongers". If you were truly opposed to our wars you wouldn't send regiments of Canadian military forces to nearly every conflict we've ever been in.
P.S. I think that is actually the classic fence-sitting technique. Send just enough help to not cause a political rift between our two countries yet not enough to actually make much of a difference. I do however honestly think it's awesome of you guys to send troops and hope they come home soon hand in hand with our troops. Like I said I love Canada and I'm just jousting with you to kill time at work.
I just realized how completely bizarre it would be if Canadians and Americans actually had a rivalry. It would suck...alot...

i've been to both canada and america and the only difference is america is slightly more outspoken. stop arguing and get along, just like we english and the welsh do.
^ Agreed.
Although what I meant was that Canada has enjoyed the luxury of being close to the United States who may very well be somewhat of a shield or at least a deterrent to significant Canadian threat.
(How exactly do you know about my travels? That's quite an assumption haha)
I think people are getting the wrong idea. I LOVE CANADA. I'm just messing around...my personal opinion is probably very comparable to Canadians/Europeans. They don't call PDX little Beirut for nothing!

He comes with a lifetime warranty if he is Canadian, limited lifetime warranty if he is American and a null and void warranty if he is from Wales.
