Blogger's Forum - Thoughtful writing on cycling, life, and all that.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

That's the most recent revision of the tag line for my new blog.

I love to write, and I love cycling. I aim to make it a positive place, where you can read writing that really moves you -- about a topic that really "moves" you. (Pun fully intended.)

Reportage, essays, philosophy, psychology, cultural reviews, humor and more.

I'd be very happy for feedback, but keep in mind, it's new and will be improving as I go. The best feedback mechanism is to post comments right on the blog -- thank you in advance.

So, here 'tis:

As you can see by my signature, you can find on my blog this week the first two installments of a humorous series on the day-to-day realities of living with a nagging knee injury. There's also a write-up of a wonderful chance encounter and insightful conversation with highly accomplished local pro Karen Smyers.

There are other pieces from the last week or so as well. Just click on one of the links in the signature. Feel free to drop a comment at the blog (or here, if you wish). It's always good to know when people are enjoying the work!

Friends, check out my report (http://velophoria.blogspot.com/2008/08/velophoria-incident-report.html) this week from cycling heaven: Acadia National Park in Maine. As always, a little humor, a little philosophy, and a lot of bike love.

Enjoy. (And please let me know if you do.)

Folks, I posted a piece (http://velophoria.blogspot.com/2008/08/rubber-side-up.html) yesterday about a very interesting experience: My first experience applying first aid at the scene of a bike crash.

Hope you enjoy it.

Hey, everyone, here's a new piece (http://velophoria.blogspot.com/2008/08/in-last-couple-of-days-while-riding-my.html) about finding the zone on my bike.

If you like what you've read, feel free to let me know, either here or in the comments section on the blog, where you can leave your thoughts anonymously and very easily.

Enjoy!

Folks,

Been remiss about advising you about additions to my blog. There are lots of new posts there since August. The two most recent are How to Overtrain (http://velophoria.blogspot.com/2008/11/how-to-overtrain.html), (a long-ish one) and They Don't Call It a Personal Best for Nothing (http://velophoria.blogspot.com/2008/11/is-suffering-worth-it.html) (a short one).

Hope you enjoy!!

Greetings, all -- Come read a new post about the parallels between herd animals and the peloton. Plus a post with a link to an amazing cyclotourist recreation of classic racing in Italy.

Most importantly, take the meaningless but fun poll on Armstrong's chances in the 2010 TdF! (Upper right corner of the linked page:
