Man...i am really hating this vacation..
my shin splints/cramps are really acting up and keeping me from running and the stationary bike is putting me to sleep.
I am really contemplating driving 9 hrs just to get my bike so i can ride it here during my winter vaction. its been less than a week and i cant live without riding it. i dont think im going to make through another 4 weeks without it.

I was the same when i went away, u have two choices, go and get your bike, or suffer :P Its just another 4 weeks, after a while you'll get used to not having it.

i had a similar reaction when my wife and i went down to south louisiana to see my mom and sister...spent about 7 days there.
i was salivating over the thought of biking I-10 to Lafayette..some 47 miles away.
I-10 is a flat layer of interstate which runs from Florida through louisiana to Texas and on to LA-LA land.

Why not pick up a beater bike at the thrift store, like an old cruiser, and relive the early days of MTB. I'm sure you can make the bike last 4 weeks and you're bound to sharpen your skills in the process. And probably have a hell of a lot of fun!
I must ask though, what possessed you to leave the bike behind in the first place?

I was also going to suggest a beater bike! I saw some really nice full suspension bikes at the grocery store. Yep, the grocery store! It was only 119, and if you don't mind riding with the forks on backwards, it's a great bike! (Please note significant sarcasm!)
Go to a pawn shop!
