I want to ride to Cap Cod. , From Up state New York. Has anyone ridden from Mass, to the cape? What would be the best/ safe route:

Early in May, I did a 400k ride from Cape Cod to Westfield, MA (http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/118438) via Providence, RI and Windsor Locks/Enfield, CT. Feel free to crib from my bikely route and fill in the gaps from your start point in upstate New York with the Rhode Island (http://www.dot.state.ri.us/bikeri/ristatebikemap.pdf) and Connecticut (http://www.ct.gov/dot/cwp/view.asp?a=1390&q=292876&PM=1) bike map.

Where abouts in upstate NY are you leaving from? I have a nice route from Saratoga to Westfield.

The Saltonstall Bikeway goes from Boston to Provincetown on Cape Cod. It was laid out thirty years ago and some of the signs are missing; if you decide to do it, take along one of the Rubel Mass bike maps. It follows mostly secondary roads and, on the finger of the Cape, the Old Colony rails-to-trails bike path. A good ride, but watch out for heavy Cape traffic from Memorial Day to Labor Day. You can download basic maps from Mass Bike.
