Hello

I am new here so please be kind!! I was one of the lucky few who managed to grab a Hammerhead from Winstanleys at the really silly price of £189.00. I opted for the 2006 model in Fizzy Orange with the straight handlebars. Why not the later model? Simply out - money.

As this was to be my experience of a foldie (even though it is not a true foldie) I didnt want to spend a fortune incase I hated it. But, I LOVE IT!! It's cool, its super fast, light and hugs those corners like nobodys business.

My bike arrived in superb condition, no missing pieces. All i had to do was slip in the front wheel and attach the pedals. No scratches which suprised me as new bikes I have ordered in the past have always been scratched somewhere.

I am so pleased I ordered this bike and I certainly wont be going back to a 'normal' bike ever again. I will be posting pics here soon of it.

I am also going to include a section for the Hammerheads on my little website - if people have pics and would like them on there then please post here and I will contact you to get them.

Thanks and please get in touch if you are a fellow Hammerhead

I'd love to see some pictures. Does the 5.0 have V-brakes?

If it does I'm actually quite envious. This is would be one of my dreambikes. However nothing like this is available in the states. Closest thing is the HH 7.0, and I don't think the brakes would work for me.

I've envisioned building a sort of micro cyclocross bike for cycling on the road to my favorite bike trails.

Enjoy!

That is such a crazy price for such a nice bit of kit. Glad your Winstanley experience was good - so was mine (I got a great GT FS MTB for half price and it arrived in perfect nick) but other reviews are mixed to say the least.

Welcome to the er, folder fold, designdeli. Ownership of an HH seems to do strange things to people. "It's just a bicycle" goes out of the window. Mine's already become an obsession. I've called it 'Maurice' and given it its own blanket.

The original " Get an HH and change your life" thread is here, where various HH owners and other ne'er-do-wells congregated during those giddy days of give-away HH's:

Just don't let anyone else have a ride on it. You'll never get it back.

More pix in the Hyde Park folder meet thread:

See you there next time?
