Should I run same size cranks on my cruiser as my 20" ??

I'm still building both bikes from parts I have and am now in the process of buying.

I have an old set of Redline Flight cranks from my last bike that are in great condition, so I'm going to use em. They already have the sealed euro BB, so they're ready to go.

Thing is, they're 185mm. Anyone see any problems from using a 180mm on one bike and the 185mm on the other? Or is it best to have one single length on both bikes? Would either bike benefit from the longer cranks if I had to go with just one? I just haven't found anyone selling 185mm cranks.

Or is it just best to keep looking until I find another set of 185's? :50:

Off topic but what size is the spindle for the flights?

Longer cranks are generally for taller people.

I'm about 5'11".

Not sure the spindle size. It doesn't say and honestly, I don't know what measurement to look for. Width? Diameter? The original BB I have for it has the press in cups for the old style large BB. The last bike I built had a euro BB so the shop got me a BB that worked with these. I've had these for over 25 years and just never upgraded since they seem to hold up to everything. I'm sure newer ones are lighter, but with prices, is it worth upgrading?

Alright nevermind that. For 5'11" 185 would seem a tad big. If you wanted 185 and can't find any go with 180.

dude im almost 5' 11" and i dont even ride 180's. try 175's. they might feel a little more comfortable.

Cool. I'll look for some 180's and since they're common, it won't be a problem. But since I already have the 185's, I'll use them on one of the bikes. Maybe the 20", since I'll be riding the cruiser more.

Unless the bikes are basically identifical in every other way you won't notice 5mm difference in crank length; it'll just feel like you're riding a different bike, which you are.
