I didn't get to go on my group ride last evening so I was determined to get out and ride this morning. The forecast was for clouds but no rain...what do I wake up to? Drizzle...screw it, I just got a PI rain jacket so I decided to brave the elements. The temp was 50deg so I put on an Underarmor base layer, sleeve warmers, tights over my new Hammer bibs (highly recommend at 50$!) a knit hat under my helmet and cold weather gloves...surprisingly things got off to a good start. I could tell the rain/wind was slowing me down but my climbing felt strong even if I had difficulty generating tons of speed even on downhills because the breeze was stiff.

Once I got into cruising mode things were going pretty smoothly. The plan was to do 39 miles (my longest of the year) on a route that was a variation of one of my favorite rides through the hills south of Worcester. Things were going just fine until I missed a turn on an unmarked street. It ended up adding about 6.5 miles to my route. I figured this out when I saw a street that I knew was west of my route...oh well. Knowing the area well enough, getting back on track was pretty easy. I was a few minutes late getting home so Mrs. Spartan112 was less than thrilled but that's life.

45.48 miles
16mph avg
2hrs 50min saddle time

I feel great and ready for my metric on the 14th.
