Training & Nutrition - Shopping for a new HRM

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

polar S150- bike, zones, etc. About 119 dollars or so.
Have you looked at Sports Instruments (http://www.sportsinstruments.com/hrms.html)?
I used to be a big opponent of Timex, but I have to say, their newer hrm are more user friendly, and with the advent of their Body Link system and GPS unit, it does make life a lot easier to train with when you've got the full functioning unit. And the digital monitor has a lot less cross talk than the other monitors out there.
There's a website I can send you to that does side by side comparisons of different monitors that also gives a discount. Let me find the discount code and give that out with the website later today.

I'm not sure if this fits the bill, but a Canadian company called Mio (www.gophysical.com) make a hrm watch that is not dependent on a chest strap. It has two buttons that you press and the HRM is accurate. If you want a continuous display then it will have a limited appeal to you. I've been using a Mio for about 18 months now, mostly at the gym but it also serves as a watch, has a calorie counting facility and I'm actually very pleased with it.
