I had heard that climbing Mt Amos provides much better views of the famed Wineglass Bay than simply walking to the lookout does. I decided to take that option rather than the touristy one. On the ride to the start of the national park I took a nice little detour around the Esplanade in Coles Bay, again offering great views of the hazards.

Not a lot to say about the remaining 6km ride to the start of the walk really. The climb of this mountain is a tough one, at one stage climbing over what is close to being sheer cliffs. It was probably just as well then that I bumped into an English tourist whom I had originally met on the ferry to Maria Island a couple of days previously. Gavin wasn't cycling on this holiday, but it was still good to have some company on a climb like that one.

As for the views from the top, well, I'll let the photos do the talking (when I get around to posting them). The descent was pretty rough at times, mainly due to the sheer level of concentration required to ensure putting one's feet in the right place. After reaching the bottom, I tended my cuts and abrasions from the walk, and thought about whether to take the touristy walk to Wineglass Bay Lookout after lunch. I opted against it after seeing the number of tourists out there. I do like a little solitude on these walks.

I had planned to update my journal on this day, but the rates for Internet Access in Coles Bay were nothing short of extortionate.
